CURTAIN CALL
Curtain Call unfolds as a theatre of colour, ornament and heightened form. Across the unit, saturated reds, luminous pastels, graphic silhouettes, fragmented bodies and tactile surfaces move between image, object and stage-like presence. Works borrow freely from the languages of painting, design, textile, illustration and sculpture, allowing decoration to become structure and colour to operate with the force of gesture.
The title takes its cue from the theatrical moment when the curtain rises once more, and the performers return after the fiction has ended. It is a brief suspension between role and reality, spectacle and self. Within the room, that ambiguity runs through works in which bodies are cropped, multiplied or transformed, familiar forms become props and emblems, and exuberant surfaces conceal more complicated registers of desire, fantasy, vulnerability and identity. Curtain Call embraces this excess as a form of agency: a vivid, unruly stage on which appearance is never merely decorative, but a means of constructing, performing and continually reinventing the self.
